IBC welcomes the IP Interoperability Zone
IABM and AIMS will collaborate on a dedicated IBC "IP Interoperability Zone" which will demo IP production solutions
IABM (International Association of Broadcast Manufacturers) and AIMS (Alliance for IP Media Solutions) are co-hosting IBC's new IP Interoperability Zone, which will feature real-world demos of interoperation between a different manufacturers’ IP system components, based on the JT-NM interoperability roadmap.
Supported by the AES, AMWA, EBU, SMPTE and VSF, the IP Interoperability Zone will feature real-world demonstrations of interoperation between a large number of different manufacturers’ IP system components, all based on the JT-NM interoperability roadmap which underpins AIMS and IABM’s collaborative approach.
Belgian broadcaster VRT will also be showcasing its Sandbox LiveIP studio – exploring the viability of live IP production from camera to studio. The IP Interoperability Zone can be found in Hall 8 on stand D.10.
Supported by the AES, AMWA, EBU, SMPTE and VSF, the zone will offer visitors the chance to discuss their challenges with diverse vendors who are aligning their efforts to achieve standardisation and seamless interworking.
“The realisation of the IP Interoperability Zone at IBC, with so many different vendors and end-users getting behind it, is an expression of the industry’s common purpose. This shared vision will remove the roadblock that uncertainty over standards and interoperability has put in the way of end-users’ decisions to transition to the many potential operating and cost benefits of IP technology in the broadcast production chain,” said Peter White, IABM CEO. “Our own efforts in this direction resulted in the IABM Industry Collaborative Groups (ICG) Endorsement Program, and it is fitting that we are partnering with the first endorsed group – AIMS – in bringing this exciting initiative to IBC 2016.”
