Lynx's new greenMachine titan does 4K
The app-based greenMachine concept was introduced at IBC last year
LYNX Technik has announced greenMachine titan, a new hardware component of its greenMachine app-based hardware solution. greenMachine titan is a four-channel hardware device that complements the greenMachine callisto, the company's two-channel signal processing hardware appliance, the greenMachine callisto.
GreenMachine titan can simultaneously process four 3G/HD/SD-SDI video streams or a single 4K/UHD video input. It offers up to 12G processing support (3840x2160 at 60 Hz) and can convert between single link 4K video (12G) and quad-link 4K video (4x3G). Titan is compatible with all existing greenMachine apps available on the greenStore.
LYNX's greenMachine concept, rather than being an application-specific box, is a combination of general purpose hardware, downloadable apps for customisable functionality and control software.
All greenMachine hardware are self-contained A/V processing platforms designed to host a wide variety of applications or apps. With 12G capable processing, greenMachine aims to facilitate and support 4K infrastructure applications. The apps available that support both the 4x 3G-SDI and 12G processing provide high quality and robust audio and video processing.
Users can configure and customise the greenMachine hardware for the required functionality by downloading apps from the LYNX Technik greenStore. APPs can be mixed and matched to reconfigure greenMachine to suit virtually any application. As new APPs will be constantly added to the “greenStore,” this enables the hardware to be easily adapted into new applications, future proofing your investment. APPs are purchased through the greenStore and are all available on a try before you buy basis.
GreenMachine titan won a TV Technology Best Of Show award at last month's NAB. It ships in July 2017.
Also, at NAB, LYNX also released four new apps for its greenMachine app store:
- Color Matching – provides precise color matching with gain and offset adjustments for a variety of colours. A tool for adjusting the output to the monitor being used and resolving colour accuracy issues.
- Switchover – a two-channel changeover switch which can be automatically triggered when an input fails or manually triggered. For applications that require an emergency switch for backup or clean switching between two video sources.
- DolbyE Decoder - enables the decoding of all eight audio channels contained in a Dolby E Stream to PCM audio. Two instances of this app can be used per greenMachine simultaneously.
- Teletext Viewer - enables the remote monitoring of teletext content within a video stream.
