CNBC gets new storage from SGL
Both CNBC Europe and CNBC Asia have undergone identical upgrades to their storage
NBCUniversal news networks CNBC Europe and CNBC Asia have installed the FlashNet content management system by archive and storage provider SGL.
CNBC Europe and CNBC Asia have both installed identical SGL systems, at their headquarters in London and Singapore respectively. SGL FlashNet is integrated with Grass Valley’s Stratus production suite and manages a SpectraLogic T680 tape library. Access to the SGL archive is via Grass Valley’s toolset. The CNBC Europe installation has provided a completely new archive environment, while the CNBC Asia project is part of a major upgrade.
The combined SGL and Grass Valley solution enables operators to work in parallel. It also allows full support for GXF partial file restore. Editors can select clips for archive or restore from the SGL archive via the Grass Valley Stratus and can view low-res proxies of material held in the archive, and mark in and out points to restore part of a clip.
