China's LeTV Sports upgrades to new switchers
The sportscaster has installed new SAM Kula switchers across its 14 studios
LeTV Sports, a division of China's LeTV Group, is revamping its studios fro live sports programming. The upgrade includes the purchase of 14 Kula live production switchers from SAM
LeTV Sports is one of China's biggest sports broadcasters. Its coverage includes basketball, tennis, football, cycling, Formula 1 and live events. A SAM Kula has been installed inside each of LeTV's 14 studios and is being used in a 1M/E configuration on the advice of systems integrator CSS, who oversaw the installation.
Available as one, two and three M/E’s and one M/E 4K versions, the Kula will be able to handle multiple formats. The 2M/E HD/SD version can be switched to 1M/E 4K mode, which will allow LeTV higher production values.
“We recommended to LeTV that they should take a close look at SAM’s Kula switcher," said Mr. He Yinwei, general manager of CSS technical. "After a detailed evaluation of multiple switchers in the market, it didn’t take LeTV long to realize that Kula was the best solution. Kula meets all of LeTV’s requirements in terms of functionality, size, and price. Its compact frame aligns perfectly with the size of LeTV studios, plus its Multiviewer function gives the broadcaster the flexibility to work with multiple inputs and outputs during broadcasts. With Kula, LeTV also has the option of broadcasting in 4K, which was definitely a mitigating factor in their choice. We couldn’t be more pleased with the performance of the Kula’s in LeTV’s studios.”
“Video switchers are crucial to the success of any broadcast production, especially in the hugely competitive market of live sports, which is quickly becoming the main driver of 4K productions," added Stephen Wong, SVP of sales, Asia Pacific, at SAM. "We’re delighted that LeTV Sports is harnessing the agility and flexibility of our new Kula switcher as we’re growing market share in China. Their choice to work with us clearly demonstrates how we’re continuing to lead the market and offer media organizations the most cost-effective solutions that deliver the absolute best results.”
