IBC Musings: Greg Hoskin, Signiant
Signiant's Greg Hoskin thinks cybersecurity will be a major concern at this year's IBC.
Name: Greg Hoskin
Job Title: Managing director, EMEA and APAC
Number of IBCs you’ve attended:
I believe my first IBC was in 1987, so this will be my 30th year attending!
Are you flying, driving or train-ing to IBC this year?
What is your goal for this year’s IBC show?
IBC is a great opportunity to meet new contacts and discover new opportunities. And, of course, it’s the perfect place to catch up with the many contacts and friends I’ve established over the years from attending the show.
What will be the big tech trends at this year’s IBC?
People are going to be looking closely at security and solutions that address the threats posed from cyberattacks and IP theft across the entire content lifecycle.
With the proliferation of both content and platforms, the rapidly growing adoption of 4K, and the reality of evermore distributed teams and supply chains – all working against tight deadlines – we expect to see a heightened interest in technologies and tools that can help manage and move larger files around, quickly, reliably, cost-effectively, and securely.
What piece of gear/software/platform do you wish someone would make?
Probably something to make it around the RAI at a faster speed so everyone isn’t running from one meeting to the next - a teleportal perhaps!
What’s your fondest IBC/Amsterdam memory?
It’s probably when I discovered just how close all the city’s major attractions and locations were to each other. Amsterdam really is one of the best cities to explore on foot.
Can you speak Dutch?
Unfortunately, not, but of course there’s no need as they all very kindly speak English!
