The new video API will allow integration with high end broadcast gear

Twitter is launching a live video API designed to allow content makers to post live broadcast. It's thought the API will work in a manner similar to Facebook Live.

The tool will allow third parties to link their video tools with Twitter’s interface, working with Twitter’s own Periscope Producer feature.

It’s thought the API will also allow high-end professional cameras and broadcast equipoment, including OB trucks, to directly broadcast live videos to Twitter. Telestream, Wirecast, and Livestream Switcher are thought to be working with Twitter for the launch.
