Comcast Platform Services companies Comcast Wholesale and thePlatform have announced theVideoPlatform, a new product aimed at unifying broadcast and online video technologies. theVideoPlatform is built on Comcast’s entertainment and media infrastructure and is powered by its online video platform, mpx.

theVideoPlatform has been designed to enable broadcasters, operators, multichannel networks and publishers to launch, manage and provide video experiences across multiple screens by managing the complexity of the video workflow from linear to digital. Built on open APIs and industry standard architecture, the new platform allows customers the flexibility to choose individual services or the full technology stack.

Free Speech TV (FSTV), an American independent non-profit news network, recently launched theVideoPlatform for their linear and online content distribution. Free Speech TV used theVideoPlatform to streamline the network’s multi-vendor workflow enabling it to reach a range of devices and platforms for both broadcast and digital distribution.

“With consumers’ growing desire to be entertained and informed on their terms, companies are looking to meet their demands right now and in the future,” said Barry Tishgart, VP Comcast Wholesale. “More than other providers, theVideoPlatform offers a high degree of transparency, reliability and implementation speed. Our deep video experience, coupled with our software technology and world-class consulting services organization, save our customers time, money and resources. We are the technology partner to lead the future of television.”
