National channel of Luxembourg will use SAM Enterprise sQ for sports, news
The facilities of RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg are being upgraded by BCE (Broadcasting Center Europe)
Systems integrator Broadcasting Center Europe (BCE) has purchased SAM’s Enterprise sQ news and sports production system for RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg, the national television channel of Luxembourg. The Enterprise sQ system will be integrated with MBT MAM and playout automation and improve the broadcaster's delivery of programming in a multi-platform environment. BCE will install the system in RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg’s new facilities in Luxembourg, which is scheduled to go live at the end of 2016.
The new facility will allow RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg to expand its operations and optimize its tapeless workflows more easily and efficiently, making use of the latest technologies.
Jean Lampach CTO at BCE said: “From its new state-of-the-art facilities, RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg will need to service several channels in different formats with media and metadata being pulled from different sources — all within tight deadlines. After publishing an RFP and examining the market closely, we knew Enterprise sQ would be the absolute best choice for this project. The system’s speed is unmatched, and its unique design allows newsroom staff to work in a truly collaborative fashion.”
“We’re especially pleased to be delivering this new production system for RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg, who has the distinction of being our longest-standing Broadcast Systems customer," said SAM head of product marketing Tim Felstead. "They installed ‘Quantel Clipbox’ servers in 1996 and replaced these with first-generation sQ servers in 2006. We look forward to supporting them for the next decade, at least.”
BCE's parent company, RTL Group, is a European entertainment network with interest in 57 TV channels and 31 radio stations. RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg broadcasts two TV channels in the country’s native language.
