Lawo brings software power to radio mixing
Lawo's Relay radio mixing software will get its IBC debut this year
Lawo will be showing its new Relay Virtual Radio Mixer for the first time in Europe.
Relay for features such as voice processing, declipping, IP remotes, multi-line VoIP, and more.
Michael Dosch, Lawo's director of virtual radio products, said, “When we introduced the idea of virtualised radio to broadcasters, they understood the benefits immediately”
Dosch claimed that broadcasters can now run the equivalent of an entire radio studio’s worth of equipment on a laptop, including mixing, voice processing, codecs, phone systems and more. He said this software approach reduced the price of obtaining all these tools to a fraction of that of their hardware counterparts.
Mixing and additional tools are all controlled within a multi-touch onscreen GUI. Thanks to technology adapted from the IT industry, Lawo claimed the Relay Virtual Radio Mixer to be highly portable and space-efficient and thus perfect for grab-and-go remote kits, field journalists, fast setup of on-location studios, webcasting, and a replacement for ageing studio hardware.
