Avid has announced the availability of Cloud Collaboration with the release of Pro Tools 12.5. The new Cloud Collaboration features aim to allow audio professionals to compose, record, edit and mix projects from any location worldwide.

With Cloud Collaboration features, users will be able to create cloud-based projects and work on projects with others in real-time or offline. The features allow users to share audio and MIDI tracks, edits, mix changes and automation, communicate with collaborators through text chat and accelerate transfers using lossless compression.

Cloud Collaboration is free with Pro Tools 12.5 and will have a tiered pricing plan for use, starting with a limit of three cloud-based projects, collaboration with two additional Pro Tools users per project and 500 MB of storage for $9.99 a month.

“Pro Tools 12.5 confirms Avid’s commitment to delivering powerful workflows that connect artists, media professionals, and their work in a much more collaborative, efficient way so they can focus on creating their best work,” said Dana Ruzicka, vice president and chief product officer at Avid. “Avid Cloud Collaboration for Pro Tools will radically change the way people make music, and open up unprecedented new creative possibilities. We’re excited to give customers the opportunity to experience this groundbreaking innovation.”
