Despite announcing a new high-end smartphone last month, Red has made Apple the Raven's sole distributor

Cinema camera innovators Red Digital Cinema will be offering its Red Raven camera system exclusively through Apple. The Raven is now available at and will make appearances at select Apple stores.

The Raven is only 3.5 lbs,and provides high-quality imaging in a drone and gimbal-friendly form factor. As with other Red cameras, the Raven has a modular design that allows for easy configuration and customisation wiith accessories from Red or third-party manufacturers. The camera has a 4.5K sensor with a maximum ISO of 12800 and maximum shutter speed of 1/8000. The camera shoots up to 120fps at full 4.5K resolution and 240fps at 2K.

Some have seen Red Digital Cinema has been the Apple of cinema cameras, attempting to reinvent digital cinematography with its modular design and high quality sensors, all driven by a visionary personality (Oakley founder Jim Jannard). It would seem like an obvious partnership, but for that Red just moved into the high end smart-phone business, announcing its iPhone-challenging "Hydrogen" holographic smartphone system only last month.
