Swiss broadcaster Radio Radiotelevisione Svizzera (RSI) has received upgraded its OB capabilities with a new Super Slow Motion Van, delivered by Broadcast Solutions GmbH. As part of an ongoing modernisation process towards HD the new vehicle replaces a legacy van.

Based on a Volkswagen T6 Van the vehicle will be used for covering football and ice hockey with slow motion and super slow motion cameras and will join RSI’s larger OB vans to increase production possibilities.

The vehicle is equipped with a Sony HDC-3300R/HDCU-3300R camera system with Fujinon x88 lenses. For storage and replay an EVS XT3 USB with eight channels is in use. For signal processing a SAM IQ modular is in place. In the vision area two 17in Panasonic and four 9in Sony monitors working with a Harris eight channel multiviewer system. Slow motion material will be shot and edited with the T6 then transferred to RSI’s larger OBs.

RSI is based in Lugano, Switzerland. RSI is responsible for the Rete radio programmes (Rete Uno, Rete Due and Rete Tre) and two TV programmes (La1, La2). The broadcaster reaches about 650,000 Italian speaking people in Switzerland.
