What will be the big technology trends at this year’s IBC?

HEVC and 4K will be the big technology trends at this year’s IBC. Virtualization and cloud-based IP video contribution are also hot topics.

What will your company be highlighting at IBC?

A key demonstration will be our new HE4000 HEVC and 4K video encoder. The HE4000 implements a best-in-class HEVC/H.265 video encoder, allowing broadcasters to deliver the same visual quality as H.264/AVC at 50 percent of the bitrate, up to 4K resolution. We’ll also showcase enhancements to products within our wider live video contribution ecosystem.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing the TV industry right now?

Technology is progressing faster and faster so we have to invest in innovation all the time in order to keep up with the latest technology advancements. It’s also important that equipment providers drive and anticipate the future needs of customers.

Given that the RAI is two meters below sea level, what is your business doing to address climate change?

Aviwest complies with all environmental European laws and are always pursuing new ways to be green.

What are your top tips for trade show survival?

Eat a good breakfast because it may be hard to take lunch if you’re busy with customer meetings.

Your favourite place(s) in Amsterdam to unwind and why?

There are so many great places to go out in Amsterdam. Visitors are spoiled with different options! I always make it my goal to experience a new restaurant at every show.
